About Us

Every publishing journey has a beginning. Mine started in March 2023 under circumstances I never imagined.

After my dad was diagnosed with cancer, I wanted to do something that might help keep my mum's mind occupied, even if only for a little while. I decided to create a wordsearch puzzle book especially for her. It was never intended to be the first book in a publishing business, it was simply a gift made with love.

Sadly, my mum passed away unexpectedly before I was able to finish it.

I decided to complete the book anyway, this time for my dad.  As he went through his cancer treatment, the puzzles gave him something enjoyable to focus on, and seeing him smile made every hour spent creating them worthwhile.

When he finished the first book, he asked for another. Then another. Before long, what had begun as a single gift had grown into a collection of books covering history, sport,  and general knowledge.

After my dad passed away in February 2025, I continued creating puzzle books. This time, they helped keep my own mind occupied. I discovered I loved researching new subjects, learning fascinating facts, and turning that knowledge into puzzle books that others could enjoy.

Today, every book I publish is created with the same care and attention as the very first one. My goal is to produce entertaining, educational puzzle books that challenge the mind while making learning enjoyable.

AJ Hayes Publishing is named in honour of my mum and dad. Without them, this journey would never have begun, and every book I publish is a tribute to their memory.
